Ethiope East LGC Chairman Ogedegbe Orders Immediate Withdrawal Of Council Number Plates In Private Hands
The Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Augustine Ogedegbe JP, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of all official council number plates currently in private possession.
This directive was contained in a government special announcement issued by the council, warning that the use of Ethiope East Local Government Council number plates by unauthorized individuals is no longer permitted.
According to the notice, all individuals or groups in possession of the council’s official number plates are required to return them to the Store Keeper of the local government council on or before 23rd January, 2026.
The council cautioned that failure to comply with the directive within the stipulated timeframe will attract serious consequences. Defaulters will be handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution, while any vehicle found bearing such unauthorized council number plates will be impounded.
The announcement was signed by Mr. Atubi Kelvin Oghenero, Officer-in-Charge of the Store, on behalf of the Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council.
Relevant security agencies, including the Area Commander Ughelli, Divisional Police Officers in Isiokolo and Abraka, the Department of State Services (DSS) Isiokolo, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), have been formally notified of the directive.
The council urged the general public to cooperate fully, noting that the move is aimed at restoring order, preventing abuse of official government property, and strengthening accountability within the local government system.
